What is a Redemption Grace Period (RGP)?

Domains registered via Woktron are generally allowed a grace period of up to 30 days after the domain name expires to renew the domain name for standard rates. There is however, no guarantee for this time period.

This time frame is controlled by our domain registrars partners (eNom and NetEarthOne).

Once a domain name expires, WOKTRON Domains are generally allowed a grace period of up to 30 days to renew the domain name. If after the 30 days the domain has not yet been renewed, the domain name falls under an Redemption Grace Period (RGP) status.

RGP status means that the domain name is locked by the domain registrar. Basically, they have secured the rights to the domain name and are holding it for up to 90 days (or longer).

After the domain has reached RGP status, domain renewal is significantly higher than normal rates (up to 30 times regular renewal rates). Once RGP status has been reached, the registrar may keep the domain name for up to 90 additional days or offer the domain for auction.

The domain registrar may at any time for up to a period of 1 year hold the rights to your domain and at the same time may delete the domain name and turn it back to Public Domain in which case anyone can register the domain name again.

If your domain name has been flagged with "pending delete", the domain name can not be renewed and you must wait for the domain name to enter the public registry before being able to purchase your domain again.

You may also use the Auction and Club Drop features available at eNom to possibly CATCH your domain name before it releases to the public. More information on the Club Drop feature is available on the eNom site at: http://www.enom.com/help/faq_clubdrop.asp

Please note that from 23rd November, 2016, .EU domains will no longer have a renewal grace period. This means any .EU domain expiring on, for example 23rd November, will be deleted on 23rd November itself, if not renewed before that date. Please renew your .EU domains which are about to expire as soon as possible, or else you will have to restore them. Redemption period remains the same. You can get in touch with our support team in case of any queries.
